We’ve used JustHost for years. Say what you like about them trying to sell you everything under the sun, you get a great deal for what you pay even if you only buy the minimum packages – making them without a doubt one of the 5 best WordPress hosting sites. For only about $60 a year you can manage all of your domains, and have absolutely no issues every time you want to contact customer service or change some settings.

So we’re going to show you in a few steps how easy it is to set up a custom web page using JustHost and WordPress. Some knowledge of coding is helpful, but not essential.

So, let’s get started:

Step One: Buy Your Account

You’ll have to sign up for an account with JustHost. They’ll tell you it’s $3.99 a month, but you’re actually paying for a year or two years (cheaper), so be prepared to shell out $60-$70 in one go. Type in the domain you want, and see if it’s available.

HINT: Use the always-working coupon code 50OFF to get it half price!

They’ll try to sell you lots of things like Domain Privacy and Green Hosting – you don’t want any of that, because everything you need comes free with your hosting package.

Step Two: Install WordPress

Once your hosting account has become active (this can take up to 24 hours, so remember to be patient), you should be able to log in and see your cPanel dashboard at http://yourdomain.com/cpanel. Look for the WordPress icon and click it.

The WordPress icon looks like this:

Click it, and then click ‘New Installation’, which will bring you to a little screen that looks like this:

To fill out this form follow these steps:

1) Select your domain from the dropdown, if you want your WordPress content to appear in the root of your domain (at yourdomain.com). If you want to be in a subfolder like yourdomain.com/blog, then type ‘blog’ in the ‘Install in directory’ box.

2) Set an Admin username and password. It’s advisable to just use ‘Admin’ as the username, as it makes things easier, but set a unique password.

3) Set your Admin nickname – this is the name that will appear under posts you write. You can change this later.

4) Set up your email address (justhost gives you as many email addresses as you want, so make it yourname@yourdomain.com and you can set this up later.

5) Type in the Site Name and Description (optional).

6) Click ‘Install WordPress’.

As long as nothing bad has happened when JustHost set up your MySQL databases, the installation should run quickly and you’ll be presented with a link to your WordPress dashboard. Use the password you gave at installation, and you’ll be looking at the WordPress dashboard.

From here the first step is to choose a theme. Just click on ‘Appearance’ to get started, and have fun being creative!
